The Process Explained
I’m often asked what’s involved in a headshot. Potential clients want to know what to expect, what to wear, how long it will take, how many people can be photographed, and generally the overall process from booking to image delivery. This page highlights the process, and will hopefully give you an insight into how I operate my professional headshot photography business.
Book Your Session
We’ll discuss your requirements, including the number of people to be photographed, your location, and any specific requirements for the images.
Most sessions take place at your workplace, allowing staff to be photographed with minimal disruption to their working day.
I Bring the Studio to You
On the day of the shoot, I arrive with a fully portable professional studio setup.
The studio can be assembled in a meeting room, office space, reception area, or other suitable indoor location. Most headshots are photographed against a clean white background, creating a consistent and professional look.
Alternative backgrounds or environmental portraits can also be arranged if required.
Professional Headshots
Each person is guided through a short photography session designed to be relaxed and efficient.
No modelling experience is required. I’ll help with posing, expression, and positioning to ensure everyone looks their best.
A typical session allows me to photograph approximately 12–16 people during a half-day booking, although this varies depending on individual requirements and the style of photographs being created.
Choose Your Favourite Images
Images are displayed live on a tethered computer during the session.
This allows each person to review their photographs and select their three favourite images before editing begins.
By choosing images on the day, everyone has confidence that they’re happy with the photographs being delivered.
Professional Editing
Selected images are professionally edited while maintaining a natural appearance.
I remove temporary distractions such as pimples and minor blemishes that would normally disappear within a week or two, while preserving the features that make you look like yourself.
The goal is a polished, professional image rather than an overly retouched one.
Delivery
Final images are typically delivered within one week.
Photographs are made available through a secure private online gallery where images can be downloaded directly. Alternative delivery methods, including Dropbox, can be arranged where required.
